What is tenant representation – and what does a tenant rep do?
It can look simple: browse Finn.no or call an agent. In reality, it’s far more complex.

The wrong location, an inflexible lease or high rent can be costly – financially and strategically. With an independent tenant representative, you have a partner who works only for you – never for the landlord.
What does a tenant rep actually do?
- Needs mapping – understanding your business, growth plans and space needs
- Market analysis – including premises that are never advertised
- Dialogue and negotiation – representing you towards landlords
- Quality assurance – technical, financial and practical aspects
- Lease terms – flexibility, good pricing and predictability
Why not search yourself?
Many start alone and quickly hit obstacles: landlords hold more information, the process eats capacity and negotiations become lopsided. A tenant rep brings objective advice, efficiency, financial gains and strategic value.
When should you get in touch?
The best time is 18–24 months before your current lease expires. If premises need adapting or rebuilding, start even earlier.
